WhatsApp is now sending out messages with oneself to a small number of beta users as part of a test. Notably, the ability to send messages to oneself has always existed. Users must click WhatsApp to launch it on WhatsApp for Android in order to do this.
With significant improvements, WhatsApp is upgrading its user interface. According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned app is currently formally testing communications with yourself for a small number of Android and iOS beta testers.
According to the website, WhatsApp is currently sending out messages with oneself to a small number of beta users as part of a test. Notably, sending messages to oneself has already been conceivable. To open it on WhatsApp for Android, users must utilize the “click to WhatsApp” feature.
A screenshot of the feature was also provided on the page. With the addition of the feature, the conversation with your own number has been highlighted by the app by adding “message yourself” to the chat description. After updating WhatsApp to the most recent version, some beta users started receiving the feature.
Additionally, according to certain beta users, messages within the chat are better synced with their personal phone number. Since it is no longer an unsupported feature while using multi-device, if you submit a message to the chat with your phone number, it will always be synced with your other linked devices, according to WABetaInfo.
The new functionality is marked to work with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.2. After installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70 upgrade, iOS beta users can access the feature. Only a small number of beta testers have access to the Messages with oneself feature. There will probably be more activations in the near future.
Notably, in a future update to WhatsApp for Android, the chat with your phone number will also be accessible within your contacts list on the app. Users’ personal phone numbers are not currently displayed in their contact list. Therefore, it is crucial to click WhatsApp to open it.
