In order to capture the entertainment market completely, jio cinema has announced some new plans for attracting new subscribers for the next quarter. The Indian streaming platform, jiocinema has made a first move to provide a free content model in order to fight competition like Netflix and Disney in the country. This free plan would be accessible for the first six months and after that it would be charged at Rs 999 per year. This latest development has been achieved after Reliance Viacom 18 has signed a deal with Warner Bros. After this deal the popular channels such as HBO and movies such as Succession and other series of Harry Potter would be available on jio cinema for live streaming. Jiocinema would become the first platform to showcase premium pricing for Bollywood content and provide access to the series much before they have actually been released. The top rated shows of HBO earlier aired on Disney Hotstar as a part of the previous deal.

The previous contract has now come to an end and jio cinema has replaced Disney hot star easily not only with respect to the shows of HBO but also with respect to the streaming of IPL Cricket tournament. IPL is being streamed live on Jio Cinema as against the subscription fees that the viewers used to pay for watching on Hotstar. Reliance had also won the streaming rights for IPL at a cost of Rs. 2.9 billion dollars. Jio Cinemas is now collaborating with other platforms in order to introduce different shows and movies in different languages on its platform. The option to give all of these shows would be available to the people at very affordable prices through low cost subscription plans. All of these developments will be in the position to increase the subscription rate of jio cinema as compared to any other ott platform that is available for the time being to the users.

Jiocinema is emerging as a tough competition for other premium subscriptions as well. Disney plus Hotstar has alone lost 37 subscriptions in this quarter after losing the rights to stream IPL. Disney Plus Hotstar is experiencing a tough time in order to cope with the progressive marketing strategy of jio cinema. In such a situation, it is becoming important to draw a line of distinction and also change the pattern of marketing so as to get back the lost subscribers. The company has not get notified the plan of action but it will soon get back to its original position if it takes into Accord a new pattern.
